Resident Speaks Out Against Political Stunt

Ms. Leighanne Hertzog made comments at the September 15th Board of Commissioners meeting concerning a lawsuit brought by Elwood Taylor, Albert Leach, and Tyrone Robinson, all candidates for Township commissioner.  This political stunt would cost the Township, if they prevailed, at least $5,000,000.

Commentary by Leighanne Hertzog:  This is in reference to the lawsuit brought against the Township for the Gilbertsville Road site.  It’s my understanding that three plaintiffs, Elwood Taylor, Albert Leach, and Tyrone Robinson, are also hopeful candidates for Township Commissioner.  I find this alarming because these candidates waited until after formal acceptance of bids and contracts were drawn to file their lawsuit.

I would like to know their motives and reasoning for waiting until the Township was financially committed and under contract to file suit after having ample time to do so, well over a year.

I would like to know how does this lawsuit serves Upper Pottsgrove?  This is a frivolous lawsuit that is costing the taxpayers several thousand dollars just to defend itself, with no reasoning for the good of the Township.  These candidates are spending money before they are even in office.  What damage will they do if elected?  We already know that one candidate is not interested in preserving open space based on his past voting record, and I am not interested in funding their political stunts.  So why exactly are you wasting our time and spending our money?
