UPPER POTTSGROVE–Upper Pottsgrove Township recently held a farewell gathering for Police Chief Jim Fisher at the township’s “temporary” administration building, marking his resignation after years of service to the community.

In attendance were recently retired Commissioners Trace Slinkerd, Hank Llewellyn, and Don Read, along with former Township Manager Michelle Reddick, who recently retired as well. Members of the Public Works Department stopped by to personally thank Chief Fisher, as did the current township staff. Several former township employees also attended, underscoring the respect and appreciation Chief Fisher earned during his tenure.

Notably absent from the gathering were members of the current Board of Commissioners, who were meeting behind closed doors in another area of the building at the time, though some did emerge toward the end of the event. While there are limited circumstances under which such meetings may be permitted of the board quorum, clarification is expected at Monday night’s public meeting.

Looking ahead, Sergeant Al Werner of the Upper Pottsgrove Police Department will assume the role of Chief of Police. His swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at Monday’s township meeting. The meeting will be held in the West Pottsgrove Township Building located at 980 Grosstown Rd, Stowe, PA, at 7:00 p.m. The Upper Pottsgrove Journal encourages the public to attend in support of the new chief and the Upper Pottsgrove Police Department as they begin this next chapter.
