Upper Pottsgrove Public Works Department Thanks

The Upper Pottsgrove Journal would like to thank the Upper Pottsgrove Public Works Department for its outstanding efforts during the recent snow and sleet event on Sunday, January 25.

Crews began work at approximately 4:00 a.m. Sunday and continued through 4:00 a.m. Monday, focusing on keeping township roads passable throughout the storm. They also worked an additional day, pushing snow back to create room for any additional snowfall.

Approximately 100 tons of road salt were used, and despite the strain on equipment, there were no major mechanical issues. In addition to routine road clearing, crews were required to clear two roads to allow access for medical emergencies.

Newly appointed Public Works Director Jeremy Fenyus noted that this storm was particularly challenging due to sleet, which can form a thick, icy base that becomes very difficult to remove—especially with extended cold temperatures expected over the next 10 days. Another storm system is also possible early next week.

Once again, we thank Mr. Fenyus and the entire Public Works crew for their professionalism and dedication in keeping Upper Pottsgrove’s roads open during a difficult and demanding storm.
